Stay Proactive and Keep It Moving PDF Print E-mail

As we continue to experience these hard times with today’s economy it is extremely critical that our veterans continue to move forward with a proactive approach while looking for employment. Hire Heroes USA is another “iron in the fire” for veterans that are pursuing employment opportunities and we are battling these rough economic times right along with you. We continue to get job descriptions from our partnered employers on a daily basis and we will do all that we can to best assist our veterans with their career search. Do not forget that our staff always assumes our veterans are aggressively pursuing employment opportunities until informed by the veteran that they are no longer in need of career placement assistance. If you do not hear from us today, that does not mean that tomorrow we will not have opportunities for you that meet you preferences discussed during our initial intake!

Below I have listed a few things that our veterans need to keep in mind as they continue their employment search.

-Keep a few copies of your resume on a electronic file at all times! Make sure that you have a strong generic objective as well as one or two other resumes with more specific objectives geared towards specific types of  positions that you may be pursuing.

-Make sure that all answering machine messages (to include cell phones) are professional and if you have a ring tone that may be heard while someone is waiting for you to answer the phone, try and get rid of it. First impressions go along way and some employers may be turned off even before they get a chance to speak with you if they are disturbed by loud music in their ears when attempting to contact you over the phone.

- Continue to search online for and apply for any positions that interest you as long as you feel that you realistically meet the job requirements.

- Always keep the Hire Heroes USA staff informed of your status so that we are able to focus on those veterans that are in need of our assistance.

Keep it moving!!!
