I think one sentiment that is almost unanimously held in the United States, regardless of our political leanings or societal situation, is the admiration and appreciation we have for the men and woman of our armed forces.  But, something I did not realize until my time at Hire Heroes was just how hard the transition from military life to civilian life can be.  Hire Heroes is a great organization because it recognizes  the difficulty of this transition, the appreciation American companies have for veterans, and the amazing talent pool of qualified veterans that are looking for job opportunities.  This recognition and the dedication of the team here at Hire Heroes have made my experience here truly gratifying.

It has been a great privilege and honor to volunteer with Hire Heroes USA during the last year. This is an organization dedicated to helping our Veterans transition from the battlefield to the workplace. It has been a joy to be able to assist in their transition, either through resume writing, interview preparation or position matching. The staff, while small, is extremely dedicated to both the veterans and the hiring organizations to insure successful placement. The opportunity to volunteer has been both educational, relative to the challenges facing the Veterans, and rewarding, the unique ability to share business experiences as a way to say thank you for all our Veterans have done for our great country.

Volunteering for Hire Heroes USA has been a wonderful experience for many reasons.  The fact that MedAssets founded and supports Hire Heroes as it does speaks volumes as to the caring and giving culture.  The mission to help wounded veterans transition to active employment is perfectly targeted, as the demand for such help is overwhelming.  Hire Heroes is the catalyst to allow the MedAssets’ customers and partners support a cause that otherwise they may not know how to approach.  So, multiple winners result from the HH efforts – employers who are searching for talented employees and wounded and sometimes desperate veterans who are introduced and then mentored in their transition to a new career.
