The men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform in defense against the Global War on Terrorism face unprecedented challenges both in the combat theater and here at home.... Our nation’s current financial climate has presented these men and women with challenges they are not always equipped to defend against.

The ravages of the economic crises, compounded by multiple deployments have especially threatened the financial stability of the Guard and Reserve members engaged in this conflict. Over the past two years, VeteransPlus, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit has been attending to the financial wellness of America’s current and former military members by providing quality financial education and counseling services. These grant funded services are delivered to Returning Warrior Workshops hosted by the Navy and Yellow Ribbon activities for Army and Marine personnel throughout the nation. These seminars have made a real difference in the lives of America’s service members by helping them put their financial house in order prior to deployment, while providing on-going support for the family back home who may be confronting difficult budgeting decisions without their life partner’s participation.On June 1st, VeteransPlus became eligible to win a $250,000 grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project. Through this grant, VeteransPlus would be able to hire and train four Veterans to work as certified financial counselors delivering no-cost financial education services to fellow Veterans.

The program will provide an immediate career building opportunity for the Veterans hired, and to the greater Veteran population served. Pepsi will award two $250,000 grants this month to the non-profit organizations who receive the most on-line votes from the public. Each person may vote once per day for the entire month of June.
