Workshops
Warrior Transition Assistance Workshops target wounded, ill, or injured service members – and their spouses – who are about to transition from the military into civilian life.
Upon invitation from the US Army and Marine Corps, and with funding from video game giant Activision’s Call Of Duty Endowment (CODE) and the USO, Hire Heroes USA successfully conducted 11 workshops for 177 troops and spouses in 2011. In 2012 Hire Heroes USA conducted 24 workshops in partnership with the USO, US Chamber of Commerce, and the CODE, ensuring long term sustainability, heightened visibility, and the integration of wrap-around services such as child care and transportation.
At the two-day workshops, service members:
| ▪ Identify post-military financial requirements and veteran benefits |
| ▪ Develop a post-military strategic plan |
| ▪ Write a resume that effectively conveys their previous experience and value proposition to potential employers |
| ▪ Learn effective job search, job application, and job interviewing techniques |
| ▪ Begin networking through personal and Hire Heroes USA sources |
