Albuquerque Journal – Stann Has a Unique Perspective
Many professional fighters measure themselves by what happens in the cage. Wins and losses become the definition of who they are.
Brian Stann, fighting is just what he does, not who he is. Life experiences have taught him that there are bigger things than say, losing consecutive fights.
Like leading a platoon of men into battle.
Stann was an officer in the Marine Corps before he became a professional fighter. In 2005, he led a mission to seize a bridge near Karabilah, Iraq. His platoon was under assault for six days, was ambushed by the enemy and still, everyone under his command survived.
For his efforts, Stann was awarded the Silver Star, which reflects valor in the face of the enemy.
