The Concert for Valor: In 2014, Hire Heroes USA was selected as one of 16 premiere veteran service organizations (VSOs) recognized in the Concert for Valor, co-sponsored by Starbucks, HBO, and Chase. The Concert for Valor, held Veterans Day 2014 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was a first-of-its-kind event to honor the courage of our nation’s veterans. The VSOs, selected by an advisory committee co-chaired by Admiral Mike Mullen and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, were identified as providing exceptional service to veterans and their families in four areas vital to successful transition: education, wellness, reemployment and reintegration. Top executives from Starbucks, HBO, JP Morgan Chase and The Schultz Family Foundation were also included on the selection committee.
