What To Except

Each Building Career Connections event lasts 90 minutes and follows a structured format:

  • Employer Introductions (15 min) – Provide an overview of your company and hiring needs.
  • Breakout Sessions (60 min) – Rotate through three small-group discussions (20 min each) with job seekers to answer questions and identify strong candidates.
  • Closing Remarks (5 min) – Wrap-up and post-event networking opportunities.

How many representatives can attend the event?

We recommend having one representative to ensure meaningful engagement with job seekers. However, up to two representatives per company are welcome should you prefer additional support.

Does our representative need to be a military veteran or spouse?

While familiarity with the military transition experience is helpful, it’s not required. What matters is a willingness to connect, share insights, and support job seekers on their career journey.

Is this event similar to a Virtual Career Fair?

Not exactly. Building Career Connections events are more conversational and networking-focused than traditional career fairs. These sessions are designed to:

  • Prepare job seekers—particularly targeted client groups—for effective networking
  • Provide a platform for informal yet meaningful conversations with employers
  • Foster lasting connections between employers and transitioning service members or military spouses

Employer representatives are encouraged to share:

  • Industry trends and hiring insights
  • Networking strategies and soft skills tips
  • Open roles or  hiring practices at your company
  • Personal stories or career advice to empower attendees
Can I share resources with attendees?

Yes! We maintain access to a public Google shared drive specifically for Building Career Connections events. You’re welcome to upload recruiting flyers, one-pagers, or helpful resources. These can also be included in the pre-event reminder email sent to attendees the day before the event for maximum visibility.
