Runners and Sponsors Needed to Join the Hire Heroes USA Team for The Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 30, 2011 – *20 slots still open!

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) July 18, 2011- Join the Hire Heroes USA (Hire Heroes) marathon team on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Washington DC for the 36th annual Marine Corps Marathon. The team captain is Hire Heroes USA Executive Director – and former US Marine infantry officer – Nathan Smith. Team members will push themselves to their physical limits while running past iconic monuments, over the historic Potomac, and next to the hallowed grounds of Arlington – all to help raise $50,000 for Hire Heroes USA’s nationally-recognized veteran employment assistance programs. The MCM is the fourth largest marathon in the U.S. and the eighth largest in the world with 30,000 runners registering annually. General marathon registration is sold out, but Hire Heroes has 20 running spots available. Runners must register no later than Friday, August 5th in order to run with the Hire Heroes USA Team. History:

  • Received, revised, and returned to veterans over 800 professional-quality résumés that translated military experience into transferable job skills
  • Conducted 12 Wounded Warrior Transition Assistance Workshops at 9 different military bases for 200 wounded or disabled Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines
  • Reduced by 70% the cost of helping a veteran to get hired in FY11
  • Helped more than 170 veterans/spouses achieve sustainable employment
