– Partners with Louisiana National Guard and Hire Heroes USA to Recruit Current and Former Members of the U.S. Military –

MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions, announced today that it will be hosting a two-day career fair exclusively for current and former members of the United States Military. The event, hosted in conjunction with the Louisiana National Guard and Hire Heroes USA, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 22 and 23, at Esler Airfield in Pineville, Louisiana, and is expected to draw more than 100 veterans from across the state. Attendees must present a valid Military ID or DD214 for admission.

 

 

Ryder is hiring veterans and current members of the military for roles including diesel mechanics, CDL drivers, logistics managers, and other professional support positions.

 

“So far this year, Ryder has hired over 3,100 new employees in the U.S., including more than 1,100 drivers, almost 1,000 mechanics, and over 1,000 other professionals,” stated Kirk Imhof, Ryder’s Group Director of Staffing and former First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Military Intelligence Corps. “We anticipate hiring another 4,000 new employees in the U.S. in 2012 and are hopeful that many of these positions will be filled by American heroes – U.S. Veterans.”

A representative from Hire Heroes’ Vet Programs team will contact registrants within 72 hours. Hire Heroes USA (HHUSA) is a non-profit organization that offers veteran career search assistance and job placement services to returning veterans, including those wounded or disabled, as they transition from the military into the civilian workforce. Services are offered at no charge to veterans.
