Make a difference for veterans and their families

There is no substitute for experience. With your firsthand knowledge of a certain field, a certain company, or how to successfully obtain a job through the civilian hiring process, there are veterans and military spouses who need your expertise and energy. Hire Heroes USA is indebted to a broad and wonderful cadre of committed volunteers, and we are always looking to add to those ranks.

Volunteering with
Hire Heroes USA

Most of our volunteer opportunities are conducted via phone or video, meaning you can volunteer from your home or office. Our team will work with you to set up opportunities that fit into your schedule. Through our contacts, you will be providing an invaluable service to a deserving military service member or their family. It is a fulfilling pursuit that empowers those you help and strengthens our entire nation, person by person and community by community.

There are countless ways for you to help, including:

Mentoring Help a veteran or military spouse address specific needs or interests related to their job search. Mentoring topics are based on your professional experience such as networking, interviewing, general career planning or sharing knowledge specific to an industry or position. Please note these are one-time conversations and do not require a long-term commitment. Be sure to indicate which mentoring topics you are comfortable discussing in the application below.
Fundraising We welcome volunteers who wish to plan and conduct an independent event with proceeds benefiting Hire Heroes USA. A special event can be as small as asking for donations in lieu of gifts at a party or wedding; or a larger community event like a 5K, bike ride or sports tournament.
Mentoring in the Federal Sector Speak with veterans and military spouses interested in working for the federal government. You could provide advice on the USA Jobs portal, what a federal resume should look like, interviewing for a federal position and general tips. If you are interested in this opportunity, select “Federal Sector Employment” as one of your mentoring topics in the application below.
Webinars Share your industry knowledge with an audience of job seekers across the country through our webinar events. You may be the main speaker or part of a career panel. Hire Heroes USA staff will support event administration and execution. Event topics vary, so this is an opportunity available on occasion.
