Volunteer Spotlight: Caitlin

Amidst the tumultuous realm of job searching, where uncertainty and confusion hold sway, countless individuals yearn for a resolute beacon of hope. Caitlin Tassoni, a devoted volunteer at HHUSA since 2021, has made it her mission to guide and empower clients, instilling them with a deep sense of confidence in their unique skills and abilities.

As a corporate recruiter for the last 10 years, Caitlin is no stranger to job boards, resumes  and interviews. With her knowledge and experience, she helps clients determine and translate their skills for their desired role, as well as breaks down the interview process so clients know what to expect. She believes that other recruiting professionals should keep veterans in mind as well:

“I think it’s important for hiring managers and talent acquisition teams to actively recruit veterans for their open roles. I would ask people to have an open mind and to not fit the candidate to the position, but fit the position to the candidate.”

Caitlin enjoys sharing her experience as a recruiting professional and understands that our clients might need mentorship at any point of their job search. Recently, she had the privilege of helping a client who felt lost and overwhelmed. Caitlin illuminated the path ahead, kindling hope and optimism:

“I had a client recently who told me our conversation made them feel so much better about their job search. Prior to our call, they didn’t know where to begin or how to even start looking for a new position. They saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I was so happy to provide that to them.”

Regarding job searching and interviews, Caitlin’s sage advice to our clients is to “practice and prepare.” Understanding and articulating one’s skills and accomplishments with clarity and conviction can make all the difference in presenting oneself as a viable candidate. Caitlin’s unwavering support and guidance infuse our clients with a newfound sense of assurance, enabling them to approach their career transition with poise and self-assurance.

Caitlin epitomizes the spirit of empowerment and compassion. With her extensive recruiting background and her genuine desire to make a positive impact, she elevates the job search experience for our clients, instilling them with confidence and guidance. Her dedication to helping veterans and military spouses find their professional footing is both admirable and inspiring. We are truly fortunate to have Caitlin as a vital member of our volunteer team, as she continues to shape the lives of those she assists, opening doors to new possibilities and brighter futures.
