Volunteer Spotlight: David
As a regional vice president of a multi-billion dollar, multinational corporation, David Picotte understands what it takes to achieve professional success. He also is a passionate advocate for the military community and a dedicated volunteer despite his busy schedule. From the moment he heard about Hire Heroes USA on a podcast episode, David knew he could give back in a meaningful way.
“We often thank these incredible individuals for their service and their sacrifice but Hire Heroes USA presents a tangible way to serve these individuals directly. Nothing is more valuable than that,” David said.
David’s extensive experience in investment banking, asset management and corporate finance make him an invaluable source of knowledge for our clients. However, when you talk with David, he doesn’t want to talk about his past experiences. He wants to focus on each clients’ personal journey and their desired destination.
“What keeps me involved is the opportunity to connect with these extraordinary individuals, learn their stories and goals for the future, and help them prepare for roles that will help them achieve their goals,” David explained.
In addition to expressing his appreciation for veterans and their spouses, he empowers them to use their stories to their advantage when they sit down for a job interview. David shared one memorable conversation he had with a client who was unsure about how to share her military background with employers.
“Being able to listen to this individual’s experiences and help her realize what a strong candidate she was based upon the incredible accomplishments she had already attained was fantastic,” David shared. “The moment that she realized what benefits she could bring a future employer, versus just hoping she could get a job, was a great moment for her and for me.”
