Volunteer Spotlight: Jennifer Wojick

For more than a decade, Jennifer Wojick has been a steady source of guidance for veterans and military spouses navigating their next chapter. She discovered Hire Heroes USA while working in talent acquisition at Arcadis, when an HR manager encouraged the team to support mock interviews. Jennifer signed up—and 11 years later, she’s still here.

Jennifer has lived all over the world, but remote volunteering has allowed her to stay connected no matter where she calls home. She loves witnessing those moments filled with eye-opening breakthroughs. Paired with the humility and gratitude she sees in every client, this is what keeps her coming back month after month.

Her approach draws from both sides of the interview table. Jennifer was previously a recruiter and has recently been through two intensive hiring processes herself. She understands exactly how stressful the job search can feel—and how to help clients move through that uncertainty with confidence.

If she had to choose one piece of advice, it’s this: “record yourself giving your initial ‘about you.’” Interviews are human interactions, she explains, and people form impressions quickly. Prepared candidates project assuredness and clarity, and that confidence helps them stay centered throughout the conversation. That’s why she loves mock interviews—getting to your authentic self often takes practice, and she’s glad to help people get there.

Some interactions stay with her. One client sent a last-minute photo of his interview outfit asking for reassurance—and he got the job. Another client bonded with her over their shared love of reading. These small connections remind her that volunteering goes beyond career readiness, building trust and meaningful relationships along the way.

Jennifer encourages others to support veterans and military spouses because, as she puts it, they already have everything they need—they often just need help translating their experiences into civilian language. A bit of guidance can make an outsized impact. Volunteering offers a purposeful way to stay connected to the military community while learning from the incredible people within it.

Jennifer’s long-standing dedication reflects the heart of our mission: people helping people move toward fulfilling employment. With clarity, compassion, and practical expertise, she continues to open doors for those stepping into their next mission.
