Operation Child Care Project (OCCP) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit working on child care access for military and veteran families. For many military spouses, child care is the barrier standing between them and a job offer. OCCP case managers work with families to identify which programs they qualify for, what care exists near them, and what to do when the hours they work don’t line up with the hours care is available. Short-term financial assistance is available to families who qualify. Services are free and open to active duty, Reserve, retired, and veteran families nationwide.
In Colorado Springs, CO and the Fort Walton Beach/Eglin/Hurlburt, FL area, OCCP’s HomeFront Help program offers free caregiver training, CPR and First Aid certification, and background checks for people who want flexible caregiving work. It is not a licensure program.
