Hired Veteran Timothy Hall

Hired as a Master Planner at the Directorate of Public Works, United States Army, O-5, Engineer

Military members, particularly careerists like myself, truly believe in selfless service and do not always think of themselves. When it came time to make my transition, it was a challenge to change that military mindset. I could not truly capture my accomplishments and articulate them in a meaningful way so that those in the civilian sector could understand.

Hire Heroes USA provided the one-on-one mentorship that sets it apart from other employment transition assistance programs. The personal attention and focus helped me understand the techniques for converting raw accolades into polished accomplishments that made a professional resume. They gave me the confidence to believe I had the necessary skills to successfully gain employment.

Because I started early and secured employment early, it helped take an emotional and financial load off myself and my family.  I have been able to relax, not worry whether I would have a job when I retired.  It enabled my family to spend time together and enjoy things together without being preoccupied with my job search.

My challenges were minor compared to many veterans, particularly wounded warriors and selected others. It is clear to me that programs like Hire Heroes USA are essential to providing the personal and continuing service that many of our veterans need. Thank you for all that you did for me, and for all that you do for current and former military!

Hired Veteran Richard Moran

Hired as an Operations Service Coordinator in Gilbert, AZ
United States Air Force E-7, Fuels Craftsman

USAFc1As I was preparing to leave the Air Force after 23 years, I thought my experience would speak for itself. Working in fuels required me to constantly interact with every branch of the military and civilian contractors on almost a daily basis. However, it was hard for employers to understand my customer service skills, because they assumed I was only working with internal customers within the military.

After I registered for services with Hire Heroes USA, my Veteran Transition Specialist (VTS) helped me redo my resume in a more appealing and relatable format. He always made himself available to answer questions about my job hunting strategies and interviewing techniques, while providing tangible resources for me to reference. I also regularly received emails from my VTS about potential job opportunities, more than I knew what to do with!

It took a few months, but with the assistance and support from Hire Heroes USA, I was able to secure employment before my separation date. My VTS was fully engaged along the way, which gave me the motivation and confidence I needed to make the move into the civilian workforce. The team at Hire Heroes USA has my sincere gratitude for all their hard work.

Hired Veteran Bryan Lysaght

Hired as a Service Representative at the Social Security Administration
United States Army E-5, Infantryman

Bryan Lysaght photoHire Heroes USA gave me the tools I needed to find employment in the civilian workforce. My responsibilities during my four years of service in the Army included managing $500,000 worth of equipment, weapons, and vehicles while maintaining zero loss/damage. I briefed senior leadership teams, providing vital information to ensure resources were allocated properly to aid combat missions.

After leaving the military, I went back to school and earned my Master of Business Administration in Operations Management degree. Even with my experience and new graduate degree, I was concerned that as a disabled veteran, I wouldn’t be given an opportunity to properly convey my experience to a prospective employer. I created a resume on my own, but struggled in the job search.

When I signed up for Hire Heroes USA services, my Veteran Transition Specialist helped me craft a professional resume that explained my skills as a Bilingual Loss Mitigation Specialist and my proven experience in sales, training and development, strategic planning, and customer service. She also showed me valuable resources to help me find the right job.

My VTS was very encouraging and supportive throughout the entire process. Now I’m starting a job with the Social Security Administration. I highly recommend the people and services of Hire Heroes USA. They care about veterans and provide us with wonderful assistance.

Hired Military Spouse Katie Popowski

katiepopowskiMy experience with Hire Heroes USA was wonderful. My husband served in the Army and National Guard for 11 years; I was pleased to hear I could also utilize the valuable tools that Hire Heroes USA offers as the spouse of a Veteran. My husband and I had just relocated to Colorado, and I didn’t have much luck with my own job search, so I contacted Hire Heroes USA, hopeful that they could help.

The entire process of my interaction with Hire Heroes USA was pleasant and really quite easy. My Veteran Transition Specialist helped me refine my professional resume and cover letter to better exemplify my past work experience and unique skills. Once my professional documents were completed, I was able to monitor job postings on the online job board on my own. Hire Heroes USA also assigned me to an Outreach/Sourcing Specialist, who actively sent me new opportunities that matched my search and skillset. It was a Thursday (just days after working with Hire Heroes USA) when I received a phone call from my Sourcing Specialist; she had found me an opportunity that was exactly what I was looking for. She reached out to the job contact on my behalf before encouraging me to apply for the position.

The team at Hire Heroes USA jumped into action, and helped me pull together my application and proper documentation to submit. On Friday I had a phone interview, on Monday I had a follow up interview and Tuesday I was offered the job.
